What a brilliant and exciting thing to happen! This was not applied for but has been awarded based on the following:

"Here at SME News we recognise that small and medium enterprises are often overlooked when it comes to recognition and so our aim is to provide a platform to showcase the work of SME’s throughout the UK.

In terms of the criteria for this, we have an in-house research team here at the publication whom are responsible for the selection process when it comes to our programs.

Our SME Business Elite awards are strictly merit based and our team looked at a variety of different factors when determining our winners for each category. For this particular program our team considered factors such as; previous accolades won, company performance over a given period of time, influence within your industry since inception, client testimonials or recommendations and recognition/community involvement within your region. As a digital publication, our team also place significant weight on a firm’s digital presence, such as how a brand utilises their own social media, whether that be through the likes of LinkedIn and Twitter, through a company blog or even simply through a news section on the website that’s updated frequently with latest news and statistics.

Our research team use a variety of different methods and sources, so they’ll look at other publications such as local newspapers or magazines, industry journals, and also things like local events and awards schemes. Our team mostly use web searches to look at elements like social media or online reviews."

Really pleased to be chosen to host a breakout session at the conference this year - and I was voted for fair and square by the members! Well, not me, but my presentation - haha! This year, in support of their member engagement and transparency goal, the APMP asked members and delegates to vote on the speakers and topics they wanted to see. This is a conference-first for APMP UK and they are excited about laying on a programme chosen by the members, for the members - they got to decide who appears here.

I join Key Note Speakers Georgie Barratt, Levi Roots (off the sauce fame!), Jez rose and Clarke Carlisle as well as lots of fabulous professionals from across the industry. Really looking forward to it!

This interactive session will explore the challenges of working from home and provide practical advice to help you to be happy, healthy and productive. More people are now working from home for a variety of reasons, including a flexibility not found in a 9 to 5 office job. Unfortunately, even in this ideal work scenario, productivity and health can be negatively affected.

As a freelancer, Pippa juggles the needs of clients, family and herself. She faces many daily challenges; the perils of Social Media and sunny days conspiring against productivity. And why does the kitchen call so loudly with its lovely goodies? When bidding pressure is on, how do you stop? Then there is the small matter of not speaking to another human being for a while and ending up a complete chatterbox the minute you see someone – anyone! Poor postman….

Walking us through a typical week, Pippa will use her own experiences to explore the challenges of working from home and how she copes with the pressures, while enjoying the flexibility freelancing provides. She will also encourage delegates to offer up their own worries, experiences and tips for success.

Takeaway: Useful tips and inspiration for working from home successfully and healthily, plus a little gift to help.

At Pipster Solutions, we care about the wellbeing and mental health of our employees, customers and local community which is why we are proud to be a sponsor of the Mighty Titans vs. The Entire Country fundraising challenge in aid of Wiltshire Mind. On Saturday 28th July 2018, fifteen Mighty Titans of New Era Fitness, based in Melksham, will be running the length of the country. Starting at Land’s End, they will run round the clock for seven days in order to reach the finish line at John O’Groats by Saturday 4 August. The team will cover roughly 1,000 miles between them.

The aim of the challenge is to raise vital funds for local mental health charity Wiltshire Mind, as well as awareness for the importance of good mental health. Wiltshire Mind is based at the heart of the Wiltshire community and provide essential services throughout our county. With support groups in Chippenham, Devizes, Malmesbury, Trowbridge, Salisbury and Melksham they play a key role in supporting the safety and wellbeing of our community. Their vision is of a society that promotes and protects good mental health for all and that treats people with experience of mental distress fairly, positively and with respect; helping them to find the support they need and deserve.
We are extremely pleased to be supporting this challenge and excellent cause; playing our part in changing the way we talk about mental health and improving the lives of those in our local community.
