Now in their 15th year, the APMP Awards celebrate and promote the finest achievements within the Bid & Proposal Management Profession. Each year, the APMP are blown away by the standard of entries which demonstrate a remarkable level of quality and excellence amongst the organisations, teams and individuals who apply. This year was no exception, and judges were overwhelmed with the levels of outstanding practice and cutting edge bid best practice that was demonstrated and a record number of entries received.

The Fiona Flower Management AWard, Sponsored by Qorus, is to recognise implementation of knowledge management, that has resulted in more efficient and effective bid or proposal submissions.

Pipster is up against big boys Equiniti and Carillion, so it will be a miracle if we win, but so so pleased to be shortlisted!

Thrilled to be chosen to speak at this year's APMP Conference again, this year with Ben Hannon of Bid Solutions. We are taking our delegates on a freelancing adventure!

Intrepid delegates will be guided on a quest through the contracting wilderness, gaining an understanding of the freelancer’s role and confidence to tackle that Brave New World.

It is October 2017. An experienced bid professional has found himself in the thick jungle of contract wilderness. He must traverse the treacherous plains of the employment unknown, avoiding potential pitfalls to achieve his goals. Survival kit on shoulder, he is confident he can tackle this Brave New World. Join Pippa and Ben as they open our hero’s survival kit and reveal what’s required to be successful in the increasingly competitive freelance market. We will discuss potential hazards and how to fully prepare you for what lies ahead. Whether new to the freelance adventure or an experienced contract crusader, everyone is welcome to join the expedition.

Delegates will take away a ‘Contractor’s Survival Guide’, understanding how to become freelance and sustain a bidding business, as well the confidence to make that leap into the unknown!
SIX months go by!! Busy busy busy is all I can say, but it's all good. Some great wins and a slightly frustrating loss, new clients and old, with a busy summer ahead. Lots of things going on apart from the day job:
  • Attending IAT Conference in Dublin
  • Handing over the production reins of Asphalt Professional to Hemming Group - I remain as Managing Editor so I keep my finger on the content, but my time will not be taken up with finding funding and articles!
  • Planning a breakout workshop for the APMP conference in October on freelancing - as was requested by delegates - in collaboration with Ben Hannon. Extect an Indiana Jones theme...
  • Writing my content for Bid Solutions' next Newsletter and expert panel responses
  • Assisting the APMP with conference communication
  • Having a holiday (yep, really!)
  • Planning with my client for the next HE tender
  • Fending off lots of enquiries - I hate saying no so will always try and find a solution, usually by recommending another person or a service

I also aim to provide something newsworthy on here before the CIHT luncheon this year, or everyone will think that's all I do every year!

IAT Council at the 2017 Annual Conference - almost every member in one place!
Had a wonderful day catching up with old colleagues at the CIHT Luncheon this year. With 1800 people attending, it was hard to meet up with everyone, but I did my best!
Rather chuffed to announce that I achieved Practitioner status with the Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) today. I am now one of only 275 people in the UK to hold this level of certification and one of 725 worldwide!

I am so grateful to those who helped me get there through mentoring and glowing references - you know who you are - thank you :)

I very much look forward to playing an active part in APMPUK and helping to shape the future of bid and proposal management!
I am thilled to announce that I have been chosen to speak at this year's APMP UK Conference, along with my fellow professional Mike Fernott. We will be leading an interactive workshop and debate.

"Freelance v Employed: Engaging to Win. A view from both sides of the fence"
Does working within a company give you greater insight and ability to understand what the customer wants - or can you add more value by bringing an external perspective to the bid? Whether in-house or freelance, this interactive workshop and debate will help writers and managers to connect with customers every time.

#TeamMike or #TeamPippa? We are very much looking forward to the debate :)

I found this on LinkedIn. Not only did it make me chuckle, but it also reminded me how important good collaboration and communication is - both written and verbal. But so is the need to realise that everyone soaks up information differently - some require visuals, some require verbal instruction, some require written instruction - and some need all three! The situation in the cartoon would have been remedied with a few clear drawings, instructions and meetings. This is just as true in the world of bidding - communicate in the way that is the most appropriate, work as a team, know your audience and leave them in no doubt that what you are offering is the right solution for them.

Yesterday I attended a ceremony at the Fishmongers Hall in London to receive my Journeyman Pavior Award. I was very proud to be nominated by the IAT and have accepted the Charge made by the Worshipful Company of Paviors , as follows "You shall uphold the high standards expected of all who receive the Journeyman Pavior Certificate and be prepared to act in the capacity of mentor to those who are committed to pursuing a career in paving in order that they may benefit from the experience and example of your achievements."
A Merry Christmas and Prosperous 2016 from Pipster Solutions!

Just a quick note to send you some festive greetings and thank you for your custom and friendship during 2015. I trust 2015 has been a good one for you and your company?

2015 has been an exciting one for Pipster Solutions, with some brilliant wins for my clients and the offer of an additional photography service for case studies and submissions. I also decided this year, after three years of freelancing, to spend some time and money on my own development - I became APMP certified in August, with Practitioner level expected by next summer.

Hopefully I've caught up with you socially in some way or another over 2015 at one of the functions I've attended, but if not, there is always 2016!

Please do not hesitate to give me a call or drop me a text, tweet or email - I look forward to hearing from you.

Warmest regards

Pippa x
